Given the deterioration of the epidemiological situation in St. Petersburg and other cities and regions of Russia, the Forum Programme Committee made a decision in autumn 2020 to turn the Strategic Planning Leaders Forum 2020 into the Strategic Planning Leaders Forum 2020-2021 and hold it in two stages: online (20-30 October 2020) and in-person (dates to be confirmed). The key online stage events — a plenary session and international events focused on SDGs — were held on October 26-27. All the recordings of online events can be found on this platform.

Online Stage of the Strategic Planning Leaders Forum: Reality 2020 and Agenda for the Next Decade

The year 2020 turns out a serious challenge for Russia and worldwide.

On 14 July 2020, Maxim Reshetnikov, Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, presented Russia’s First National Voluntary Review of the 2030 Agenda Implementation at the UN High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development. He also spoke about priority measures to overcome coronavirus impacts.

The 17 Sustainable Development Goals — commitment to end poverty, ensure healthy lives and promote well-being at all ages, become sustainable worldwide by 2030 — serve as a beacon in these challenging times.

This is a fundamental question world leaders are curious about and the answer has never been more urgent.

The question became the main topic for plenary discussion between Ministers and Alexei Kudrin, Chair of the Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation, and also for Forum Green Day’s international online events:

The Forum is held annually since 2002 and has already firmly and justifiably gained the right to be regarded as the main platform for discussion of methods and tools of strategic planning, as well as constructive analysis on the most important and sensitive problems of strategic plans and complex projects implementation in urban development of Russian Federation.

Forum Mission is to enhance the balanced and sustainable development of the regions and cities by means of improving the system of territorial strategic planning, supporting coordination and public dialog on long-term development priorities, and creating and promoting up-to-date standards of planning.
